We drove back to Minehead because we had heard of a lovely cliff walk that would take us to Porlock Weir with a bus that would take us back to Minehead.Sounded easy........not.It was about an 8 mile (approx 12kms) walk. We didnt do our homework and climbed this 800 ft cliff !!!! We thought it was going to be a bit of a climb and then walk across the cliff taking in the views, mmmm. We had a bit of a climb that went single file going up gravel steep slopes through woodlands and curved all over the place.2 hours later we reached the top to find a seat where we met Lorna(yes, after Lorna Doone) waiting for some friends. She was a local and told us it was fairly flat from here on.She didnt tell us about the descent.....Eventually after more woods, steep slopes on gravelly paths and crossing at various points streams of water,we arrived at Bossington. We found a lovely cottage gardens cafe where we bumped into Lorna again (she drove there) We had lunch together and we had a laugh especially as I said I had lost interest in walking to Porlock Weir at that point. She kindly said she would give us a lift as she was meeting her friends there. It was still quite a way from Bossington !!!! Porlock Weir was beautiful and we spent 2 wonderful hours walking around and downing a few pints before getting the bus back to Minehead. But the views from the top of the cliffs were spectacular. We could see Wales across the Channel
